Red Alert!!! Water rationing in Selangor until April 30 as dam levels fall..

Rain in the Klang Valley since March 16 has failed to raise water levels in seven dams that supplied raw water to water treatment plants in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
The National Water Services Commission (SPAN), in a statement today, said water levels at the dams continued to fall due to little rain for the past two months compared with the corresponding period in previous years as well as increased treated water production.

Mungkin rakyat Selangor terpaksa guna Air dari lopak jalan.

It said water levels at the seven dams was at 190 metres compared with 206.60 metres in January.
The total water storage in Sungai Selangor has dropped to 37.09%, Sungai Tinggi (63.25%), Sungai Semenyih (72.83%), Sungai Langat (50.20%), Klang Gates (50.32%), Tasik Subang (88.39%), and Sungai Batu (77.59%), it added.
It said the third stage of scheduled water distribution would continue until April 30 involving 722,032 houses, affecting 3.6 million people in Gombak, Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
Each area is divided into two zones with each zone receiving water supply for two days followed by two days of rationing, it said.
SPAN said the Selangor government decided to reduce water released from the Sungai Selangor Dam by another 500 million litres per day (MLD) to 1,000 MLD.
A meeting attended by SPAN, the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry, the Selangor government, Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (Luas), National Security Council and all operators agreed to implement the fourth stage of the scheduled water distribution from April 4 and extend it to other areas.
The statement said however, the date and the affected areas would be announced soon.
Meanwhile, the first stage of the scheduled water distribution implemented on February 27 in Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang will continue due to closure of two water treatment plants - at Mile 11, Cheras and Bukit Tampoi - both due to high ammonia content, it added. – Bernama, March 28, 2014.
